New Phantogram: Don’t Move

Lest too much time lapse between album releases, electronic-pop duo Phantogram (whose debut, Eyelid Movies, came out in early 2010) will release a “mini-LP” next month. Nightlife is due out Nov. 1 on Barsuk Records.

The label unleashed the first track of what appears to be a six-song collection – a handy companion to the fall tour (which stops in Phoenix on Nov. 5) and something to bridge the gap until the next album is released.

Josh Carter (vocals/guitar) says Nightlife serves as “kind of an extension” to Eyelid Movies, and Don’t Move certainly retains that album’s feel with its synth/horn stabs punctuating another of the group’s hip-hop-inspired beats.

Incoming: Phantogram, Nov. 5 at Crescent Ballroom

The first show for Crescent Ballroom isn’t until Oct. 3, but the new downtown Phoenix concert venue from Stateside Presents promoter Charlie Levy has inspired plenty of excitement and prose – not to mention a concert calendar that’s starting to look mighty impressive.

Newest on the list is a Nov. 5 date for electronic-pop duo Phantogram, whom we saw last October in what turned out to be a packed and sweaty fun time. I’m assuming some new music is in the works after the early 2010 release of Eyelid Movies.

Reptar opens the 18-and-over show and tickets ($14-$15) go on sale this Thursday.
